1912 50¢ ICCS Gem Mint State-65. A superb Gem example, exhibiting exceptional eye appeal for the issue. The obverse is enveloped in a soft silvery-gray tone with delicate pinkish undertones, lending a subtle, attractive patina. The reverse displays a richer, more concentrated russet toning, providing strong visual contrast and depth. A very rare date in this lofty state of preservation, particularly at the Gem level. Census data confirms only one example graded finer, with a further two specimens tied at the MS-65 level, underscoring the scarcity of high-end survivors for this issue.

1921 50c ICCS About Uncirculated-50. The 1921 half dollar is widely regarded as the “King of Canadian coins,” and remains one of the most iconic and elusive issues in Canadian numismatics. This example, certified ICCS AU-50, presents a rare opportunity to acquire a highly desirable example of this legendary key date. The ICCS holder notes “cleaned,” however the present coin exhibits strong eye appeal with most collectors and dealers unlikely to detect or emphasize this characteristic in hand. We believe that, at some future date, this coin may be resubmitted to ICCS for Presidential Review, at which time the current comment may be reconsidered and potentially removed upon re-examination. The surfaces display attractive, natural toning with engaging hues of lime, golden yellow, and emerald overlaying residual original lustre. Overall presentation is far superior to what is typically encountered for the issue at this level of preservation. 1921 half dollars are exceedingly rare and highly sought after in all grades, with most survivors encountered in well-worn VG-8 condition or, at the opposite extreme, in high-end Mint State preservation. Mid-grade circulated examples with this level of visual appeal are seldom encountered in the marketplace. In fact, AU-level representatives of this date are virtually absent from major population reports, underscoring the scarcity of this offering. This is the first example of comparable quality we have encountered in over four decades of handling Canadian rarities. The combination of originality, residual lustre, and vibrant toning places this coin among the more visually compelling survivors known. VG-8 examples of this issue have recently realized prices exceeding $70,000 at auction, the present example, certified AU-50, represents a significantly finer state of preservation—approximately 42 grading points higher on the Sheldon numerical scale. We now turn to the marketplace to determine how collectors and bidders ultimately assign value to an example of this caliber,
