Militaria Medal; Canadian Military General Service Medal w/Chateauguay clasp to ...

Militaria Medal; Canadian Military General Service Medal w/Chateauguay clasp to ''A. DUMON. LIEUT CANAD'N MILITIA.''. Excessively rare Chateuguay clasp issued to a serving Officer. Born in the Region Beloeil . QC in 1787 serving with what we believe was the Militia from the County of Rouville area. born in Canada he served for the British Forces. Important to Note the the impressed name shows as Dumon. but in reality refers to Alphonse Dumont. Probably the most important of all Chateauguay Clasps issued handled by TCNC. This particular issue is in superb mint condition with full bright ribbon and comes with the original box of issue displaying hand written recipients name as well as the number of the medal issued as listed on the Canadian List of awarded Medals #56 and this number corresponds to the paper work supplied (copies). Note; his actual name was DUMON (without the “T”) as confirmed on his gravestone (see attached) and other references. This Chateauguay Medal is probably the finest example to have come to market in the last 50 or more years and should command a strong premium. The recipient was quite famous in Quebec in the 19th century. An amazing historical piece.
