Militaria Medals; Canadian Grouping of 12 Medals to Major-General John Percival Mackenzie. Major General J.P. MacKenzie (born in 1884 in Canada) was a Distinguished Officer in the Canadian Army. He played a significant role in both World War I and World War II. Medal Grouping includes The Distinguished Service Order (DSO) for his military service w/2 clasps, The 1914-15 Star, 1914-18 British War, Victory Medals, The 1939-45 Star, The 1939-45 Defence Medal, Volunteer, War Medals, the 1937 Jubilee Medal, The Canadian Territorial Force Efficiency Medal ''MAJOR-GEN J.P.MACKENZIE. DSO'', Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal & The French WW1 War Cross 1914 - 1918. Note that the DSO is slightly out of position or slightly damaged. Medal Grouping comes in Gieves Ltd of London box. A Museum Lot that should be viewed for its historical value.

Militaria Ephemera; JOHN PERCIVAL MACKENZIE, Born May 1884 in the Municipality of Morton, Manitoba. Major General John Percival MacKenzie was one of Canada's key military leaders during both World War I and World War II. His leadership, strategic planning, and commitment to the Canadian Forces helped shape Canada's military history as we know it today. Lot includes various documents, cerificates and pictures all pertaining to his time in the forces. ie. Proof of DSO nomination and appointment, recognization for Gallant and Distinguised Service and so much more. A superp and important assembly that reflects the service of J.P. Mackenzie. Militaria Medals; Canadian Grouping of 4 Medals includes The Distinguished Service Order, 1914-18 British War, Victory Medals & The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Medal to Lieutenant Colonel W J H Holmes DSO. Three miniature Dress medals included (DSO, Victory & CAF). Born on 28 May 1871 in St. Catherines, Ontario, he was a member of the British Columbia Regiment, Canadian Expeditionary Force that sailed to England in 1916 as part of the 48th (re-designated the 3rd Pioneers) and dispatched to France where he took part in the Battle of Vimy Ridge. ''In May 1917, General Julian Byng praised Holmes and his men for their efforts at the battle of Vimy Ridge but regretted to inform him that the 3rd Pioneers were to be broken up to provide reinforcements. Unable to replenish its ranks with British Columbia Volunteers, the battalion was dispersed among the 7th, 29th and 75th''. He died at the Veteran’s Hospital in Vancouver on 10 July 1954 and remains and important part of Canadian History.
