Indian Treaty No. 7 Silver Medal, issued in 1877. This is an extremely scarce and historically important Canadian medal which represents/covers the following Nations The Bearspaw, The Blood, Chiniki, Piikani, Siksika, Stoney, Tsuu T'Ina & The Wesley Nations. This medal was offered on behalf of Queen Victoria to the 8 Nations Leaders who signed the Treaty. Treaty medals were gifts presented to Chiefs who entered into these Treaties in exchange for various goods and Indigenous rights to hunting, fishing and natural resources on reserve lands and offered a lasting visual reminder to all the participants of their treaty commitments.
